It’s been quite a week for the global economy. With the recent rollout of major trade tariffs by the US Government—impacting nearly every country—it feels like decades of globalisation are being put to the test.
We live in a deeply connected world, where events in one corner of the globe can quickly affect others. We've already seen this with the war in Ukraine and ongoing conflicts in the Middle East—both of which have had ripple effects across global markets.
Back when the war in Ukraine first began, Responder Wear partnered with the local Ukrainian community here in Australia to send urgently needed tourniquets and medical packs to frontline troops. At a time when medical units lacked even the basics, we were proud to play a small role in delivering life-saving support. That effort showed the upside of global logistics—how help can travel quickly when people and supply chains come together.
But there’s a downside too. Global conflicts and economic uncertainty tend to drive inflation—and that makes it harder (and more expensive) to source military spec medical gear for the civilian market. Over the past few years, we’ve had to make some small price increases to keep up with rising input costs.
So what now? How will globally connected businesses like ours navigate this next wave of uncertainty—and the possible price and supply impacts from new tariffs? Great question.
Right now, we source our gear from trusted partners across the US, Pakistan, China, and Australia. It’s too early to say exactly how the tariffs will affect the Australian market, but we expect to see ripple effects—especially from our US suppliers.
That said, we’ve been preparing. We’ve been working closely with Australian medical suppliers and manufacturers to strengthen local partnerships. In fact, we’re currently collaborating with an Aussie kit manufacturer on some exciting new locally made product lines—more on that soon.
Like many businesses around the world, we’ll be watching global developments carefully. But we’re confident that Responder Wear has the team, partnerships, and resilience to navigate whatever comes next.
At the end of the day, our mission hasn’t changed: Helping You Save Lives.
Thanks for being part of the journey—we appreciate your continued support during these changing times.
